Why we built it
Writers working on complex stories — fantasy novels, D&D campaigns, sci-fi series, historical epics — have always faced the same problem: the story exists in too many places at once. The manuscript is in one app. The characters are in a spreadsheet. The lore is in a notebook. The maps are pinned to a wall. The timeline is in a separate document.
Every time a writer switches between these tools, they lose flow. Every time they forget to update one, they introduce an inconsistency. Every time they search for a detail they know they wrote somewhere, they lose precious writing time.

Your Own World is built by a small team that writes. We use the platform ourselves — for novels, for campaigns, for world-building projects that got out of hand in the best possible way.
Every feature in Your Own World exists because it solved a real problem we had, or because writers using the platform asked for it. We publish a public roadmap and take feature requests seriously. This is an ongoing project, not a finished product — and the community of writers using it shapes what it becomes.
