The AI assistant is available throughout Your Own World — not hidden in a separate tab. When you're working on a character profile, the AI knows you're in character mode. When you're in the manuscript editor, it knows which chapter you're in. The context switches with you, and you choose which project records to include for deeper chat and analysis.

Bring your own provider
Choose the AI account that fits your project.
YOW does not resell AI usage. On paid plans, you connect your own supported provider key, and your use is subject to that provider's terms, privacy policy, pricing, model access, and limits.
Google Gemini
Recommended for fast drafting and general creative help. Google may offer free usage or allowances depending on current pricing, region, and account setup. Users in the UK, EEA, and Switzerland must use a Gemini API key associated with a Google Cloud project with active billing where Google's terms require Paid Services.
OpenRouter
Recommended for trying many model families, including large-context options. Some free-labelled models may be available, but free tiers can have tighter rate limits, changing access, and upstream provider reliability constraints. Paid credits may be required for stronger models or exhausted quotas.
Anthropic
Recommended for long-form reasoning, editorial critique, and character/world consistency. API access, credits, billing, rate limits, model access, and context windows vary by Anthropic account and current policy.
OpenAI-compatible endpoints
Recommended for OpenAI API models, Groq, Mistral, Together, and other compatible endpoints. Free usage, billing, context limits, reliability, CORS support, and data practices depend on the endpoint you choose.
